Best Hotel or Homestay in Bhimtal

Best Hotel or Homestay in Bhimtal – My Experience at Himnandi Homes with Travelophila

Hello everyone! I’m Gulshan Hakade from Pune, Maharashtra. I’m a student, and like many others, I’ve always had a dream of exploring the peaceful hills of Uttarakhand. On 21st December 2024, I finally got a chance to make this dream come true, along with my group of 8 close college friends. We wanted a short yet memorable escape before our semester break ended — and Nainital, Bhimtal, and Kainchi Dham were our top picks.

We were especially interested in paragliding in Bhimtal, and for that, we needed a good package and a peaceful stay near the adventure point. After searching a lot on Google and Instagram, we came across a local travel company called Travelophila Travels, based in Uttarakhand. The name and reviews felt trustworthy — and best part, they’re locals, so we knew they’d plan better than the usual city-based travel companies.

The Start of Our Journey

We contacted Travelophila, and they immediately responded with a 3-day Nainital-Bhimtal package for just ₹6500 per person, including:

Transportation

Homestay Accommodation

Morning & Night Meals

All toll & parking charges

It felt perfect — especially for students like us, traveling on a budget but still looking for comfort and good experience.

Why This Blog?

Although our package covered various places from Garhwal to Kumaon, this blog is especially for those who are planning to visit Bhimtal, Nainital, or Kainchi Dham and are looking for a peaceful, clean, and family-friendly homestay near Bhimtal.

Arrival at Himnandi Homes – A Hidden Gem in Bhimtal

As per my request to stay close to the paragliding site, Travelophila booked us into a place called Himnandi Homestay, located in Saket Colony, Bhimtal.

When we arrived around afternoon time, we were welcomed by Mr. Prakash Joshi, the caretaker of the property. And I must say — from the first step into the homestay, it felt like home. The homestay is a triple-storey villa-style property with a small garden, beautiful views of the valley, and a peaceful atmosphere. It has 4 double-bed rooms, each with attached washrooms, all basic amenities, and a neat & clean kitchen.

The best part? The lake is just 350 meters away, so it’s close to the action, but far enough to enjoy peace and silence.

First Day – Comfort Food & Spiritual Vibes

After keeping our luggage in the rooms, Mr. Prakash joshi surprised us with a simple yet delicious homemade meal — dal rice, mix veg, and local pahadi chutney. It was one of the best meals I had in recent times — maybe it was the mountain air, maybe it was the warmth of the host.

Later that evening, we went to Kainchi Dham Mandir for darshan, something we had all been looking forward to. On our way, we mentioned to Prakash ji that we’ve always wanted to try Bhang ke Beej ki chutney, a famous traditional chutney from the hills.

To our surprise, when we returned to the homestay for dinner, he had already made it for us.

Our dinner that night was even more amazing: palak paneer, rajma dal, chapatis, rice, salad, and of course, the special Bhang chutney. We ate, we laughed, we shared stories, and slept with full stomachs and warm hearts.

Day Two – Balcony Views, Coffee & Nainital

The next morning, I opened the balcony door and honestly, I was speechless. The view of the mountains, fresh sunlight on the valley, cold breeze, and peaceful silence — it was exactly what we had come looking for.

Prakash ji handed us special pahadi-style coffee, and that warm cup, in that cold breeze, with that view — I’ll never forget that moment.

We then went out to explore Nainital — boating in Naini Lake, walking on Mall Road, visiting the Naina Devi Temple, and ended our evening chilling at Bhimtal Lake.

Day Three – Flying High in Bhimtal

Our last day started early because we had pre-booked paragliding in Bhimtal. It was the highlight of our trip. The view from the sky, floating like a bird, seeing the green forests and clear lakes below — it was everything we imagined and more.

After our flight, we had one last meal at Himnandi Homes before packing up and heading back.
