Our Do Dham Yatra with Tungnath — A Journey Beyond Roads, Beyond Words
Quick Summery
Hi, I’m Sujit from West Bengal, and this is the story of our unforgettable Do Dham Yatra with Tungnath Trek that we experienced with Travelophila this October.
What started as a simple plan among six friends soon turned into a life-changing journey — full of laughter, prayers, long drives, and the kind of peace you can only find in the lap of the Himalayas.
Starting the Journey — From Haridwar to the Land of the Gods
Our trip began on 4th October 2025 from Haridwar. The morning air carried a hint of winter, and we were excited like kids heading to the mountains. Our driver, Mr. Shailender, greeted us with a warm smile. He was a true son of Uttarakhand — a kind-hearted man from the Mussoorie region, who knew every mountain turn like the back of his hand.
The moment our Innova hit the hilly roads, it felt like Uttarakhand itself was welcoming us. On the way, we stopped at Narsingh Devta Temple in Joshimath, an ancient shrine surrounded by serenity and silence. That moment set the spiritual tone for our Yatra.
By evening, we reached Badrinath Dham, embraced by the cold mountain air and the sound of temple bells echoing through the valley.

The Divine Morning at Badrinath & Exploring Mana Village
The next morning, we walked toward the temple before sunrise. The Badrinath Darshan was pure magic — standing before the idol of Lord Vishnu felt like time stood still. Every prayer came from the heart.
After darshan, we explored Mana Village, the last village of India. From the roaring Saraswati River to the ancient cave of Vyas Gufa, every corner had a story.
A few of us also opted for a short visit to Kalpeshwar Mahadev, one of the Panch Kedar temples. It’s a small cave temple, but its energy is immense — a hidden blessing of Uttarakhand.
By night, we stayed at Pipalkoti, a small, peaceful town surrounded by forested hills.
Chopta – The Mini Switzerland of India
On Day 3, we started early for Chopta, the scenic gateway to Tungnath. The drive from Pipalkoti to Chopta felt like driving through a dream — pine forests, cool breeze, and golden sunlight peeking through the trees.
Our trek to Tungnath Temple, the highest Shiva temple in the world, began after breakfast. The climb was steep but rewarding, every step bringing us closer to something divine.
We sat for a while near the temple, soaking in the silence and the snow-capped peaks around. A few of us even pushed forward to Chandrashila Peak, from where we could see an endless ocean of mountains touching the clouds.
By evening, we descended and reached Sersi for our night stay. The day had drained our bodies but filled our hearts.

The Sacred Trek to Kedarnath Dham
Day 4 was dedicated to Kedarnath Ji — the soul of our Do Dham Yatra.
We started our trek early from Sersi. The 16 km climb was long, yet the chants of Har Har Mahadev echoed from all directions, keeping our spirits high.
By sunset, we reached Kedarnath, and the sight of the temple standing tall amidst snow peaks left us speechless. The temperature dropped fast, but our hearts were warm with devotion.
We stayed overnight at a camp near Kedarnath, gazing at the stars and listening to temple bells carried by the wind — a night none of us will ever forget.

Morning Darshan & Triyuginarayan — Where Lord Shiva Married Maa Parvati
The morning of 8th October began with Kedarnath Darshan. The serenity inside the temple can’t be explained — it must be felt. Each of us bowed our heads with tears of gratitude and peace.
After descending back to Sersi, we visited the Triyuginarayan Temple, a sacred site where Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati were married. The eternal flame there is said to have been burning since that divine wedding — it’s truly mesmerizing.

The Return Home — Dhari Devi Temple & Devprayag Sangam
On our last day, we drove back towards Haridwar.
We stopped at Devprayag, where the Bhagirathi and Alaknanda rivers meet to become the Ganga. Watching the two rivers merge was one of the most beautiful sights of the trip.
We stood there silently for a few minutes. None of us spoke — we didn’t need to. We just knew this journey had given us something we would never forget.

The Return Home — Dhari Devi Temple & Devprayag Sangam
Our final day was a quiet one. On 9th October, we left Sersi with heavy hearts but peaceful minds.
On the way, we stopped at Maa Dhari Devi Temple, the guardian goddess of Uttarakhand, and later at Devprayag Sangam, where the rivers Bhagirathi and Alaknanda merge to form the Ganga.
Standing there, watching the waters blend, it felt like the end of our journey had merged with something eternal.
From My Heart – A Note from Sujit
“If someone asks me what makes a journey unforgettable — I would say, it’s not just the destination, but the people and emotions along the way.
Our driver Mr. Shailender became like a brother to us. His calm driving, mountain stories, and care made every mile comfortable.
The hotels arranged by Travelophila were clean and cozy, the meals were homely, and the itinerary was perfectly balanced between devotion and adventure.
Every detail was handled with love — and that made all the difference.”
A Few Tips from Our Experience
Here are a few small but helpful things we learned during our Do Dham with Tungnath Yatra:
- Start early every morning. The mountains reward those who rise before the sun.
- Carry warm layers, even in October — the weather changes fast, especially in Kedarnath.
- Keep snacks and a thermos for the long drives. Uttarakhand roads are beautiful but winding.
- Don’t rush your darshan. Take a few moments to just sit quietly — that’s when you truly feel the divinity.
- Travel with the right people. A good group and a caring driver like Mr. Shailender make all the difference.

And whenever we miss the Himalayas, we know — we’ll return.
